Social-Emotional Learning

What is social-emotional learning (SEL)?

SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions. ~ CASEL

Social-emotional learning matters

Having strong social-emotional competencies helps your child develop personal effectiveness. In today’s ever changing world, such soft skills gives children the tools to navigate current and future real-world challenges.  SEL goes beyond improving a child’s school performance, it’s a life skill, it’s about recognising and managing one’s emotions, develop healthy identities, build meaningful relationships, act for the good of self, others and society.

The 5 competencies of SEL: Self-awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills and Responsible Decision Making.

Mindfulness & Social-Emotional Learning

Mindfulness and Social-emotional learning (SEL) are the foundations of our core values and vision.

Mindfulness & SEL is not just a programme or method, but rather coordinating framework embedded into our centre’s values and culture.  Our hope is to help our children develop attitudes and behaviours to promote health and psychological growth over their lifespan.
